The only fully supported data source on SSAS Tabular is SQL Server
PowerPivot in Excel supports several types of data sources. But once you deploy your model on SSAS tabular, the only supported data source is SQL Server!? There are known issues with .csv data sources for Tabular models: Once you encounter a lock on a .csv file during processing, the next time SSAS Tabular will crash. Please support the other types of data sources in SSAS Tabular.
