Table filter

I'd like to be able to select a record in a table and have a chart on the dashboard filtered by that record. For example in PerformancePoint you can create a KPI list and then have a filter action to filter a line chart by the selected KPI. Ideally it would be good to have something similar to Tableau chart actions where you can customize which charts are affected by the filter, method of activating the action (click, hover etc). I understand this might be complex so I'd settle for a special type of table which restricts you to one dimension and many measures, and clicking on a dimension value would filter all charts on the dashboard.

We have this feature in the new table and matrix visual. Learn more in the blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/#table

I would agree, this feature would be similar to QlikView, would be helpful for certain clients

I agree - this request has also be made by my clients. It would be useful to be able to click on tables and by that create the "highlighter".

Agreed, this would be great. Currently you can only filter by Slicers, which have to search capabilitiy, or you force the data to be represented visually which at times, a table can be more effective.

This is something in Tableau that has been a primary comparison point for my company. It's hard to fit everything that might need to be filtered or interacted with in a visual or a slicer when users are accustomed to seeing it in grid mode in Tableau and QlikView.

It would be very nice when we can use this feature in Power BI. I noticed that the customer is getting more and more familiar with Power BI. At 1st their needs were basic. Now they start working with it and with it their needs grow. One of the questions they raised is whether it is possible to filter charts and graphs based on table content. They don’t want to use a slicer based on 2 reasons. 1) Quick and flexible filters based on table content. They don’t want to scroll down a slicer 1st to find what they looking for. 2) Waste of space on page view. If the filtering can be done by table content, then a slicer is not needed. The space you create can be used for some other graph or chart you want to show
