In the current TMDL editor, we can open and work across multiple windows, but there is no way to save progress. This means any unfinished work is lost if the session ends, forcing developers to manually reconstruct changes later.
Suggested Improvement – Save Functionality
Allow saving of TMDL windows, including names and content.
This would enable iterative development, letting users pause and resume work without losing progress.
It would also support deployment workflows where scripts evolve over time before publishing.
Suggested Improvement – IntelliSense
Unlike DAX Query View, the TMDL editor does not provide model-aware IntelliSense prompts.
Adding IntelliSense that recognizes model items (tables, columns, measures, roles, perspectives) would:
Reduce errors by surfacing valid object names as developers type.
Speed up authoring by eliminating the need to cross-reference schema manually.
Improve usability and consistency across both DAX Query View and TMDL View.
