Support for multi-monitor in Power BI Desktop

When you develop complex data models and reports, it's common to switch frequently back and forth between the Report, Data and Model views. Having support for multiple monitors would enable to Power BI developers to use secondary (or third) monitor to simultaneously and seamlessly work across these views.

It would be great if there was multi-window support for the various elements of Power Bi Desktop, similar to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

I've tried the On-Object Interaction Preview but I prefer the classic version with the option to open multiple panes at the same time, even at the cost of screen space.

Another issue is when writing/editing a long DAX measure which takes up almost all screen space, requiring you to hide and reopen the formula bar to see the changes reflected in the visuals.

I imagine a version where you could you have separate windows for:

  • Only the visuals (no Verical Panes or Formula Bar)
  • Report View without Visuals, Table View, Model View, Dax Query View
  • All Vertical Panes (like Filters, Selection, Sync slicers, Bookmarks, Visualizations, Data)

Similar to Excel, there should be a button so you can duplicate your current report and allow you to look at multiple panes. Often when I am validating data I have to jump between report view and table view. It would make my workflow smoother if I could have one tab with table view and one tab for report view.

I would like to recommend being able to pop out the different editing tabs in the Power BI Desktop app into new windows, similar to how VS code can be split or moved to different displays. It would be very helpful to be able to see data tables view and report view concurrently, or the Dax builder and table view concurrently on two displays.

Additionally, it would be helpful to have the DAX editing bar be able to be a new window as well, again tobe able to view the page view or data table or models etc while writing DAX on a separate display. This is a standard workflow in VS Code and derivitives and is a notable limitation of Power BI Desktop compared to other development tools.
