It would be great to add functionality in the designer to create custom maps with custom shapes apart from the default map which provides countries and regions.

- You can enable the ShapeMap visual that is currently in preview in Power BI Desktop. Go to File > Options > Preview features to enable it. With this visual, you can upload your own custom map via a geoJSON file.
- It would be great to be able to import KML files to create custom overlays over maps. For example showing a number of sales regions and the relevant stats associated with the region. Allowing for people to click the various regions to show each of the associated data.
- Even if we cannot do a "custom" map, the ability to drop in a unique placeholder "Pin" for our office locations that are static would be nice.
- Is there a way to load custom map areas (i.e. Voting Precincts) to a map?
- In an IOT perspective this is crucial. The functionality is already there in Powermap and it would be very much appreciated to include this in Power BI as well.
- I vote for county and DMA level maps please!
- For most mapping scenarios based on countries/states/cities etc. usage of Bing Maps for visualization is an overkill and not really warranted. The resulting visualization is slow to render and non-responsive. The level of detail provided by "real" maps doesn't add any value (in most cases) and distracts from the real value of the map chart. An option to use a specialized map charting control (like amMap or similar) would improve the utility of such a visualization by a magnitude.
- Similar functionality as offered by SSRS would be a game changer. Which allows importing of (ESRI) Shapefiles. This combined with the ability to zoom in and out of the map, would be something fantastic.
- Some user wants custom maps feature, like they don't want to see the whole world map, instead they only need to see the map of particular location or country or city. So there should be a ability to import .KML file or .shp file with .dbf will be an amazing feature to see
- This would be fantastic as my company has ever changing custom sales areas within the UK! Make it happen!
