Sort by individual column values in a matrix

If I create say matrix with employees on rows and months on columns with expenses in values, I currently cannot sort by a particular month to see who were the top spenders in that month. I can only sort the totals. Excel allows sorting on individual column values. Need similar functionality in the matrix as well.

I agree that this would be very useful. The default action of filtering is counter intuitive when clicking on the value header(s), and of course is a different action to selecting the totals. Filtering only really makes sense when clicking on the column values above the value header(s).

Beef up the Matrix hierarchical sorting functionality as per: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/11185431-add-a-multiple-columns-sort-featue

unfortunately this is still a not resolvable challenge , matrix columns cannot be sorted if you have more then one field on the column axis. hint: zebrabi visual can sort on any column but its not free
