Shared Semantic Model - Allow developers to see Measure DAX calculations
Current State:
Developers can connect to shared semantic models and then convert to a Local Copy via Direct Query. They can use the measures in visualizations, however, they cannot see how that measure has been defined.
Reasoning:
While it is understandable that the developer cannot modify the semantic model's measure, it would be very helpful to be able to see the actual DAX behind the measure. It is important to understand how a measure is calculated before using it to build reports.
Recommendation:
Allow developers connecting to shared semantic models to be able to view the Measure DAX, while maintaining security to prevent modification of the DAX measure. Its possible that this ability is restricted to some level of access in the PBI workspace.
