Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

Right now, If I use PowerBI desktop to create a dataset, report and dashboard. I am not able to share it with a standard user. This effectively means that we have to either licence everyone as a pro (very expensive for 4k people), or not use the pro features at all (which isn't what we want). Pro users should be able to build and schedule the PowerBI, and then be able to share with any company user using AD security groups. Without these options the tool may not be a viable option...

We have come up against the exact issue of being able to share dashboards with users who have to download the Pro version to just view them - the majority of our users will never develop any dashboarding so it seems an unnecessary step. This is a fundamental flaw with an otherwise great product and is causing us to consider other BI solutions. Microsoft - please address this asap because I'm sure this issue will derail the great work so far.

I really hope someone from MS takes this thread seriously. As with many other in this conversation, we are poised to adopt Power BI as our corporate BI platform, but the requirement for Pro for everyone who needs to just view dashboards is going to drive us into the arms of the competition. Come on Microsoft! You finally have a killer product, a ground swell of support, and you are going to cripple adoption with a poorly conceived licensing model!

Totally agree with comments on this thread, microsoft please listen. Working in a large organisation if you want uptake of the product you need to let us share the output with others and use / demonstrate full potential.

Disappointed with this huge limitation, being not able to share. Even if you subscribe for Pro still the users cannot view shared dashboards unless they upgrade their BI version which is not a viable option. Microsoft should reconsider the sharing methodology.

Totally Disappointed, we learnt Power BI, gave training to entire team, hoping its gonna be really powerful tool, but sharing with unlicensed user is not possible which created big problem, now the project which was decided to build in POWER BI, we are doing in other tool.Even Power Premium is expensive. Team any other workaround, just as some jobs we can schedule where we can automatically pick up report from server in PDF/PPT format, put it in sharepoint, where user can open those PDF/PPT reports. Many Thanks SK

I started development of some dashboards for faculty at Franklin but now find that they will need the pro version to view them. This is pretty much a deal breaker for us as the costs are just too high.

This is the silliest pricing structure I've ever seen. I can understand PRO needed for the dashboard developers, but to simply view a report? What?

Tableau publishes a Reader version so that users do not have to have a Pro license simply to view what has been created. Although the Pro license for Tableau is expensive, the fact that it has a free reader license makes it the clear winner here even if Power Bi is preferred for functionality, how disappointing.

Had a MS rep visit our company and show the amazing things you could do with Power BI. Honestly the training was great! Then we found out that in order to share these awesome reports we either have to pay an extra $9.99 per user per month or invest in the Premium option which is priced so high that I imagine my finance team laughing at me before deleting my request. This has killed the potential of using Power BI in our company and I feel like we wasted money getting training in this software...
