In SSRS, the maps you design are static. We should have more functionality like dynamic zooming in and out, dynamic selection of objects on map, showing different levels of data at different level of zooming. Developers have to search online for map objects and then import it. We should have a bigger library of basic maps.

- Mapping in reporting is becoming increasing more import. Yet still ignored by SSRS. Whilst Power Bi goes a long way to addressing "some" of the issues it does not address others. Eg SSRS can apply custom shapes to a map. Cannot do that in Power BI, Power BI does play nice with USA states but not, areas here in the UK!! Power BI can zoom in and out using the mouse wheel, cannot do in SSRS SSRS has fantastic tooltips with a powerful scripting language support, Power BI has nothing..... In SSRS its possible to apply colours to maps based on parameters, not sure the same can be done in Power BI with such ease
- Absolutely, fundamentally required now within BI. Presenting a table/chart of data is all well and good but it needs context and in many industries that context is geographical. Specifically the ability to pan and zoom on the map and dynamically select which layers to be shown (tick box, turn on/off).
