Currently, Power BI does not provide a native Power Query connector for ClickHouse. As a result, when we connect to ClickHouse (even in Import mode), we are unable to use the full Query Editor (Power Query) experience.
This creates significant limitations:
We cannot apply transformations in the Power Query editor.
There is no support for query folding, which forces us to preprocess data outside Power BI.
We lose consistency with other officially supported databases like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
ClickHouse is increasingly being adopted as a high-performance analytics database in modern data stacks. A native connector would allow users to:
Seamlessly connect to ClickHouse from Power BI.
Use Transform Data / Query Editor to clean and shape data directly.
Benefit from query folding to push transformations back to ClickHouse for efficiency.
Request:
Please add a first-class Power Query connector for ClickHouse in Power BI (supporting both Import and DirectQuery modes). This would bring ClickHouse in line with other officially supported relational databases and greatly expand Power BI’s usability in analytics pipelines.
