PowerBI reports and dashboard on-premise hosting

As per available documentation, power bi reports and dashboards will be published to microsoft cloud. It is very awesome approach as it saves all overhead of maintaining infrastructure. But there are case where on-premise hosting is required, Can we configure on-premise server to host power bi reports just like SSRS reports?

Awesome ! Would a PowerBI dashboard on a SSRS 2016 report server work just like an SSRS report? e.g. connect to an on-prem data source like SSAS tabular, and then deliver to end users via a link to on demand report, or a subscription ?

Will the Power BI on premise have scheduled data refresh capability like what sharepoint does right now?

Hi @Riccardo as you probably know, at this time only Pyramid Analytics supports PowerBI formats (with limitations) for on-premise rendering (but is Silverlight based). Considering that you are going to do more or less the same thing, why don't you build an on-premise solution that integrate PA and SSRS together? Don't you think that PBI will overlap SSRS mobile reports format generating confusion among users?

Hi Riccardo Muti, Just curious if the timeline on this feature is getting closer to be set? We are outlining out BI strategy and much of it is reliant on this feature if we are to use the Microsoft BI platform as Power BI Cloud is not an option for us at this time. Can we expect an official release date announcement with this feature and also what is the appropriate site to be following to find updates on this feature, Power BI or SSRS, both? Thanks again Power BI team for a great product and your hard work! Looking forward to utilizing this feature to its fullest!

I am a new learner and publish for only 2 Power BI Reports. I think it simple for on-premise hosting. Using upload download approach to host different scenarios and versions of Power BI Reports with (.pbix) or without (.pbit) embedded data. https://youtu.be/R4aBrbfOMOk?list=PLPcrRYHIVppZ4iWwGlbkr5peaizF-phOV

Yes, share the PBIX file between the users. It's not ideal though.

'@Matt and others, we're closer in the sense that we've made engineering progress over the past month, but I'm afraid not yet in a position to communicate a timeframe. We'll need to make more progress toward a critical mass of functionality and to have some release vehicle decisions made. I empathize with you that you need a timeframe to plan accordingly and I appreciate your patience. I'll be sure to post any relevant updates here.
