Power BI usage statistics

Provide analysis of how our Power BI dashboards/reports are being used: Hit count, Q&A queries ran, filters applied, common actions etc. This would allow us to track the importance and use of our reporting and see how different users interact with the data.

Hello everyone! I'm an excited to announce Power BI usage metrics for content creators! This release allows you to see the metrics for the dashboards and reports that you've created, without the need for O365/Power BI admin privileges. To learn more: > Announcement: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/measure-and-magnify-your-impact-with-usage-metrics-for-dashboard-and-report-authors > Documentation: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-usage-metrics/ With this release, we are resolving this item as done. However, we are planning on iterating on the v1 functionality in the months to come. We’ve created the following UserVoice items for these improvements. Please cast your vote below to help us prioritize our investments going forward: > Usage metrics show the exact e-mail address/names of users who access dashboards/reports https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19469269-show-email-address-or-user-name-in-usage-metrics-f > Dataset usage metrics https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19469302-dataset-usage-metrics-for-content-creators > Usage metrics for Power BI apps https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19469335-usage-metrics-for-power-bi-apps > Usage metrics contains data for >90 days https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19469353-maintain-dashboard-report-usage-metrics-data-for > Improve usage metrics performance https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19469380-improve-dashboard-report-usage-metrics-report-perf > Usage metrics programmatic access https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/14817480-usage-statistics-via-rest

This will be critical for us and any company moving towards "data-driven" processes!

We regularly track user statistics in order to decide which old reports are mostly used and which ones needs to be erased. So, it's critical for our company.

'Data set refresh stats (how often, amount of data pulled from on premise, Azure, etc.), User access, new reports (or report create date for all reports), same for dashboards... - List all data sources and then consuming datasets so we can see redundancy of datasets. -failed logins - Failed data set refreshes with reasons -list of all gateways status and all pertinent stats -lineage reports (what datasets are used by what reports and dashboards), same for reports -Content pack stats, how many are deployed and by who, what the consumption is, how much was personalized

Definitely need this capability. We are rolling out Power BI dashboards to our sales team and we need to be able to track who is using them...and who needs coaching!

Being able to optimize synonym tables and create lists of top Q&A questions would be super helpful.

Yes totally, I agree you need to know about your frequent flyers. Both in the report space and the user space.

We need an interface that can show/track? 1) User history. How many times a user logged in? Last log in? 2) Usage tracking 3) Data accessed. For clinical usage, there needs to be a way to provide reports on whom is accessing the data, which data and how often.

Please allow the admin users to see if and when users open the reports
