As I wrote in my problem description, I cant’ sart power BI desktop correctly on my laptop. I tried several things like install, uninstall framework and so one. I also tried to install/uninstall (more than one time.. ) the 32 bits version and the 64 bit version. When I install the 32 bits version, the program succeed to start and I can use powerbi almost normaly but as soon as I want to put a visualization on the designer, I catch this error message (Can’t display the visual) When I trie to install the 64 bits version powerBi does’nt lauch at all. It freezing on the first screen “Initializing model” and than I catch the error message : "we weren't able to connect to the model". May I precise it's my firt start of power Bi on this lapto. I already install it on another laptot without problem. Please help me !!!

Hello Charles, Sorry. I didn't receive your first mail but well the second one.During the start screen is freezing, I see well powerbi.exe running in the process. Now, i'm one step over... I notice that in fact, it's the msmdsrv.exe program who doesn't want to start.I'am searching why. I'm making also all the update available for win 7. I hope it will resolve my issue

I have a current issue with Power BI Desktop 64bit on a windows 10 machine not being able to launch although it was working fine prior to the 28 April update. That being said, I also have a Power BI Desktop 32 bit version on Windows 7 which has updated and is working fine.

Since my last post i have done a re-install of windows 10. This remedied the situation for 2 days before the same issue appeared again. An important point to note is that its only Power BI that's affected, all other programs work fine. My windows event logs indicate that its something to do with the .net framework. However, it's not possible to re-install/repair this in windows 10. Any other suggestions?

'Same issue here, Windows 10 x64 16GB RAM. Using latest Power BI desktop download, I get an exception when I try to run ("This program has stopped responding"). Paste from correlated Windows Problem Reporting report below. I've tried installing to default location, rebooting, repairing, running as Administrator, nothing seems to work. I can't seem to find out where to get the 32 bit version directly so I haven't tried to install 32 bit - it always auto-detects & forces 64 bit. I've upvoted this cry for help. --- Source Microsoft Power BI Desktop Summary Stopped working Date ‎5/‎12/‎2016 12:28 PM Status Report sent Description Faulting Application Path: D:\Applications\Microsoft Power BI Desktop\bin\PBIDesktop.exe Problem signature Problem Event Name: BEX64 Application Name: PBIDesktop.exe Application Version: 2.34.4372.501 Application Timestamp: 572c595b Fault Module Name: MSVCR80.dll Fault Module Version: 8.0.50727.9193 Fault Module Timestamp: 56048aec Exception Offset: 000000000001da44 Exception Code: c000000d Exception Data: 0000000000000000 OS Version: 10.0.10586.2.0.0.768.101 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 8204 Additional Information 2: 8204dc380a5132fc96f101436dc10f7b Additional Information 3: e131 Additional Information 4: e131b1a59171fe374b9bd51ffccdd820 Extra information about the problem Bucket ID: 9ad1db28057bbee3fe57cc4e9114d05d (116168534301)
