Power BI connectivity support for private Azure data sources using Workspace Managed Private Endpoints

Power BI engine should be able to leverage Managed Private Endpoints created in the workspace to connect to data sources behind firewall in Azure.

This solution still maintains a great level of network security and eliminate the need for the "on-premise" data gateway to access the data sources. This has the immediate benefit of better reporting performance (via DirectQuery and Import refreshes) and reduction on cost and admin effort to maintain data gateway VMs in Azure.
