I'm currently using IDownloadService.exportVisualsContent to download custom data from our custom visuals.
While this works perfectly in Power BI Service and Power BI Desktop, I'm unable to get it working in Power BI Embedded. Despite enabling the relevant tenant settings for the entire organization, the export functionality still doesn't work in the embedded scenario.
Upon reviewing the official documentation, I noticed that this limitation is already mentioned — the export feature is supported only in Power BI Service and Desktop. This restriction is a blocker for us, as it prevents downloading custom data directly from our embedded reports.
We request that Microsoft extend support for IDownloadService.exportVisualsContent to Power BI Embedded scenarios. This would allow developers to provide a consistent export experience across all Power BI platforms, especially for custom visuals that generate dynamic or domain-specific data
