Paginated Reports Gateway & Cloud connection Automation

Hi Geek,

I hope you are doing well.

In our organization, we currently maintain over 400 SSRS reports. We have decided to migrate these reports to Power BI Service in order to achieve better visualization and interactivity, centralized access and governance, and reduced maintenance efforts.

During the migration process, I observed that while we can publish multiple reports in bulk using a PowerShell script, each report still requires manual Gateway/Cloud connection mapping. Given the scale of 400+ reports, this approach is extremely time-consuming and impractical to manage.

We are looking for a solution or workaround that would allow us to:

  • Publish all SSRS (paginated) reports in bulk

  • Configure the data source connection once and apply it across all reports

  • Eliminate the need for manual intervention on each report

As part of my research, I created a workspace (where I have admin access) and developed a PowerShell script using REST APIs. While the RDLs are publishing smoothly, the data source connection mapping still requires manual effort.

Could you please advise if this can be achieved natively within Power BI Service, or if there are any recommended tools, scripts, or best practices to help automate this process?

Your guidance will be greatly appreciated.
