Is it possible to export data in a Matrix visual in a traditional row/column excel format instead of the tool converting it to a flat CSV file.

- jshanahan1New MemberPlease provide a matrix 'export data' feature which exports the visual to excel as it is filtered and shown in the visual. It currently exports many additional columns and requires the user to re-format / pivot in excel (many steps)...
- kenl235New MemberI agree with Jeff. It would be amazing to have the option to export the exact layout of data the matrix is showing. Dropping into a flat format that you have to reformat is not helpful and defeats the purpose of using power bi. I could just do this in excel in the first place. I get there is underlying data but seems like there should be a copy and paste as is feature. There are several ideas similar to this floating around the site hopefully they are consolidated at some point and addressed.
- Robert_William3New Member4 years after the original suggestion, and we are no closer. I'm guessing this is the same for PBI service users as well (I use PBIRS) but exporting matrix from PBI report just drops ALL the data into CSV format which is not suitable for users who have no clue what to do with that data or how to group it up again in excel. Needs option to export matrix with data grouped (excel format), or even just export what is seen on the screen in that moment, without the ability to drill down/ungroup.

Exporting a matrix while retaining the layout of the matrix is now supported in the Power BI service
