Make power BI desktop fully compatible with ARM CPU, such as snapdragon

Considering the most powerful and versatile machines are being built on ARM processors and many developers preferring these machines due to the extended battery life, or performance per watt, I think it would be critical for Microsoft to start developing Power BI Desktop to be fully compatible with ARM64 processors. Windows ARM with a snapdragon processor is a great machine. It is where all machines are going. It's time for Power BI Desktop to get up to speed with everything else.

Status: Completed

As of the October 2025 release, Power BI Desktop is supported on ARM PCs  that have the 2025-09 Cumulative Update installed (KB5065789).

The issue is the solution cannot be to switch to a Canary channel build. We have managed devices in our workplace that cannot get onto preview builds.

Owner of an expensive Microsoft Surface Laptop with Snapdragon and Windows Arm, which I bought instead of the cheaper MacBook alternative to run Windows programs for business... Come on, Microsoft!

Microsoft should really come up with a solution to solve the current issues being faced by AI PC users. Stop marketing a product yet some native tools that you own will not work in the same PCs. Although there is a solution of degrading to a previous version, some of my reports will not open in that version.

I would like to know what is the product road map ? Are you going to give up Mac users ? are you going to fix the problem for ARM64 CPUs ? Are going to develop enahnced web interface for dashboard developers ?

I review the issue in the latest version and saw that :
I can not review data when:
* Filtering dates using between filter, filtering from the left side
*Filtering dates using relative date\time (filter pane)
* Advanced filtering (filter pane):

I can review data without an issue when :
* I'm not filtering dates.
* I'm using a date filter with hierarchy
* select a specific date (basic filtering in filter pane)
* I'm using between filters, but filter the right side
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
update: I found some workaround that works for me
1. Relative dates filter -
instead of using build in PBI realtive filter I'm using my last_days\weeks\months from my dim date table. you can also create a specfic calculated column for special scenario (is_in_last28 days etc.). Or use the PBI relative date only on the PBI report on the service(edit report on the service).
2. For Analysis -
I'm not filtering dates or just filtering the left side of between slicer or using different filter type .
For more detiled analyssis I perform after publishing to the PBI service

Please Microsoft. We really need this. It's unfathomable that you're not officially supporting it.

It’s time for Microsoft to bring full ARM support to Power BI. The industry is rapidly shifting toward ARM-based hardware — from Apple Silicon Macs to Windows on ARM PCs and Azure ARM servers. These platforms deliver better performance per watt, lower energy costs, and are becoming the standard in modern computing. Without ARM support, Power BI risks lagging behind user expectations and enterprise IT strategies. Many analysts, data professionals, and decision-makers are already working on ARM devices, and the lack of native Power BI support means relying on emulation, which hurts performance, stability, and battery life.

Resolver I
This is bad that Microsoft pushes hardware and their software product team doesn't support their own hardware. When asked about it, they ignore it like this problem will go away. What a disaster.

I couldn't agree more. Yet Microsoft hasn't resolves these functionality issue for several years!!! It's unreasonable not resolves issues while keep selling ARM device.

Hi, raised this ticket today and go contacted by the agent. Below is his response: power BI Desktop is not natively built for ARM64 architecture, which means it runs in emulation mode on Snapdragon X devices. This can lead to DAX execution failures, especially when working with large or complex data models -You have understood but this issue was for global customers you have asked whether it is possible to fix this issue in coming versions. - We have mentioned that we will be reaching to internal team and according to that we will be updating you as of now there is no specific ETA on that. Next Steps: As agreed, I’ll be closing this case . Although the ticket is closed, you may reach out to me directly for any queries related to this issue. I’m fully accountable for your end to end experience of this support request and I hope you are delighted with Microsoft support. If you have any queries/issues in the future, please create a new service request and reply on the same email thread with the details, I'm happy to help you. We appreciate your support and partnership with Microsoft. You are our valuable customer, and we strive to assist you better and better every day. Thank you again from Microsoft Power BI Support.
