MDX and or DAX queries against SSAS

Would it be possible to have MDX or DAX queries against the SSAS OLAP or Tabular data sources. The Wizard based selection is very easy to use. But when I want to select a specific data set to load, ideally I would use an MDX query against a cube to achieve this.

Thanks for the suggestion. We can certainly add this - who else would find it useful? Please add your votes!

I agree. But also I'd suggest that the user should be able to select expand and select specific dimension records in the wizard so the entire cube isn't returned with every query. For example if there is a date dimension, allow specific dates to be selected on an order cube. Other SSAS wizards allow for this.

I agree. The SSAS wizard query in Report Builder or Power Query should be included to Power BI desktop

This is really important because there are some MDX functions, that whilst can be embedded in the Cube as Calculated measures, would be really useful to be able to do on an ad-hoc basis to be able to prove the report. Then, to ensure completeness for everyone, be able to pass to a Cube developer to incorporate into the Cube Design.

I have been looking for this functionality for the Information Management department. This is what we need. When do you anticipate it being delivered?

I would love to have access to the same DAX/MDX query builder that is in SSMS and Report Builder. Also, if you could add the ability to add custom DAX measures and drag them in similar to the MDX custom measures that would be amazing!
