Live/DirectQuery to SAP BW

The SAP BW Connector currently does not support Live or Direct Query. Some customers are looking for this feature.

Thanks for the feedback - SAP BW DirectQuery mode was added in the Power BI Desktop June 2017 release and in the On-premises data gateway July 2017 release.

if I select only very few measures and dimensions for test purpose, the results are excellent in power BI desktop. As SAP collects excellent data about attributes, the data lends itself for lot of analysis scope to throw outliers and trends. But SAP is not for small data or for small hearts! Also the preview version is not detecting measures and dimensions. We need to tell it explicitly after import. However, during import selection, it is displaying measures and dimensions with symbols for selection as SAP BW fields.

As the preview release of SAP BW connector is not supporting direct query, practically it is becoming useless as the data with SAP back ground is always huge. For any of my requirements, data is not loaded into power bi desktop and says the internal table can not be extended. So running of queries on ware house server is essential for SAP data

This is key for users to reuse work done in BEx queries along with data mash capabilities of Power BI

This feature is a must, if not the integration with SAP BW is not useful. We should be able to change the parameters and refresh for various options available.

I fully agree, import Data in Power BI if we have already EDW on BW doesn't make sense because we replicate data and it's not the philosophy of standard BI. Import data can be usesd for prototyping or merging data from different data sources.

Anyone know if I can see queries create in BW in Porwer BI , I have the connection in Power BI - BW but I can not see the Queries yet (just the cubes)..........( in the propierties of the Query , in Extended/Advanced tab, I checked to let Allow access to external OLEDB and I can not see it yet )

Cannot wait for IT. It will be a massive step to become a leader in data visualization! Adding to this SSO will open a huge market in front of Power BI and easy implementation. Adding this in on-premises mode will smash the competition!
