Line Graph - Summarize by category

it would be great to either be able to add a line to connect dots in a scatter plot, or add the ability to summarize data in a line graph rather than plotting ALL points. I have several points of data (an X and Y value for each), and I want to sum all of the points up by category and plot those categories instead.
