We have Github integration in place in our development workspace and we often end up having a lot of objects modified in the workspace that weren't pushed through Github integration.
The main issue is we have no idea what's changed, who did it and when.
For example, I came back from 2 weeks vacation. Before I went, there was no objects in the "Changes" panel in "Source Control":

I know the best thing to do would be to restrict access to the workspace to avoid any unwanted changes, but we need to maintain dataflows in this workspace and that cannot be done through Github integration
