Indicating excel files are being used in PowerBI

I have found that users in SharePoint or in a User Group may alter, move, or even delete the source excel file without knowing its PowerBI connections. This results in refreshes not being able to find the source data. Can you source files be marked or notification be sent to a user before making any major changes?

With all due respect, I think this is a procedure and education issue, not a feature need. Just place the files in a folder marked "DO NOT MOVE".
