Increase Export Data Limits

In late 2016, Power BI improved our export data options to allow exporting up to 150,000 rows to Excel from a visual on a Power BI dashboard for Pro users. If you require higher limits, please vote on this idea. If you have more specific requirements, please leave them in the comments.

Hello Power BI team. This 150,000 limit on row export is a deal breaker. The end users in my organisation are already complaining about this. We have accounting and GL level transaction dashbaord for our end users. For YTD data the exports are often more than >150k. Please guys work through it to allow more rows to be exported. I brought Power BI and replaced Tableau in my client account in my company. Power BI is far better than Tableau for million reasons except this limitation. Tableau has no limitation on row export. Please work through it and devise a solution ASAP.

Have just found out there is a limit of 150,000 rows when exporting to excel? We are trying to switch reports from another reporting tool (not the reporting tool mentioned in a previous comment) which does not have this limit at all and exports to excel without any problems.

This is a major limitation, which is causing us to reevaluate the use of PBI. All of our customers have "export underlying data" as a basic requirement. Tableau allows user-friendly crosstab exports of over 33 million cells (or 1 million records of a 33 column table). If you hope to compete with Tableau and retain business, this should be a top priority (instead of forcing our report builders and users to jump through additional hoops with drill-through and paginated reports).

Microsoft - PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ASAP. Alternative solutions are not feasible at all. For Eg we evaluated Paginated Reports - very basic, It has its own limitations Embedding Report in App to overcome this limit?? Seriously? Then what is the purpose of having one central portal. How many report should we embed?

Many common operational needs exist for 150k+ row export for our Pricing and Finance teams.

I don't know the reason behind this export limit is, but whatever the reason is, it's makes the application so useless. Tableau doesn't have any export limitation and even though POWER BI has several advantages over Tableau, this single limitation makes it near useless as we may have to re-evaluate the use of Power BI in my organization.

Absolutely. Currently have to use workarounds such as DAX Studio for csv, which handle exports flawlessly. Where as Power BI limit you to 30k rows for CSV as well as 150k rows for excel, which is on the same Microsoft Platform. Shocking to say the least.

Voted. Meanwhile you may have a look at "Analyze in Excel" external tool from SQLBI. It removes the limit. In the future, it will allow to use Excel templates to setup a personalized export.

As other partners provided comments, even our Organization's users facing huge difficulty in performing this basic reporting operation due to its limitation. It was really frustating for the users to do the tedious work of getting export through drill-throughs/paginated reports/applying filters with multiple extracts. So requesting you to kindly look into this idea's implementation. It's also not fair that idea won't be considered for implementation unless it reaches 2K limit. Atleast it should not be the case in providing the basic reporting functionalities. Hope this functionality will soon flow into Power BI. Also requesting the TAM to raise DCR with the filled Business Impact Document

Please change/remove the rowlimit on exports from Power BI reports to csv -> unlimited and excel -> 1,048,576 (maybe -1 for the headers). End users need to be able to perform their own analysis / checks (for example in Excel) on the source data.
