Improve Direct Query Date Time Handling

When using direct query you should be able to change a date axis to show only the month. This works using excel or when doing a transform but neither of these are possible using DirectQuery. Even workarounds like FORMAT can't be used with direct query. This really needs fixing!

Date hierarchy needs to be available in Direct Query mode in addition to Import mode.

I completely agree and second that DQ needs to support Date Hierarchy

This is a requirement for working with larger data sets. Having no ability to work on date fields in DQ by using custom field is not a good experience.

CRUCIAL TO HAVE THIS FEATURE ON !!! POWER BI IS MOVING TO STREAMING LIVE DATA WHERE DIRECT QUERY IS THE BASE FOUNDATION OF THAT PRINCIPLE. GET LIVE AND UPDATED DATA AS SOON AS YOUR DATABASE CHANGES. SO HAVING THIS KIND OF LIMITATION ON A BASIC FEATURE IT'S A ANNOYING.

The Date Hierarchy drives all reporting, every customer needs to see performance over time. We need this feature, this limitation is making working with Power BI in direct query mode frustrating! Please add this to the next update.
