Thanks for the feedback! We're considering adding a way for users to import their Power BI artifacts in Excel Workbooks into the Power BI Designer: Power Query queries, Data Model objects, Power View sheets. One of the main challenges at this point is that there are lots of missing features to manage and author the Data Model and other artifacts that we need to enable first so that imported objects can be properly managed in the Power BI Designer.

Surprised that there are not more votes for this one

In the current version of the Designer, you can't import your Power Pivot models yet. This feature is critical for broad adoption. Please add it asap. Thank you!

All our current PowerBI data models are in Power Pivot, not supporting that in PowerBI is quite a step back. Please do add support for PowerPivot as a data source. Even Tableau supports it 😉

I second this! I think it would be crucial to have this connection.

'Miguel - Thank you for your quick response. To answer your questions below: - We are currently utilizing Power Pivot and Power Query add-ins for Excel 2010, so we are not using Power View. As such, we will be building Power View reports from scratch. Having PQ queries available would be awesome. - For phase one, just being able to load the Power Pivot model into Designer would be sufficient (spectacular!). The main features that we would like to utilize in the near future are more around the visualization and sharing tools present with Designer. We find these solutions much more appealing than utilizing another vendor such as Tableau. Thanks, Judd

Being able to utilize a simple gantt chart in Power BI Designer would also be very nice.

This is a critical feature so our clients don't have to do multiple types of data sources for the same data!!!!! Thanks for starting it.
