We've noticed that when using background images in visuals, Power BI creates a separate copy of the image for each visual—even when the same image is reused. A similar issue occurs with custom assets like TopoJSON files in map visuals, where each visual stores its own copy of the file.
This behavior unnecessarily inflates the Power BI file size and increases load times, as the same asset is downloaded and cached multiple times.
It would be highly beneficial if Power BI supported referencing shared or reusable assets across visuals.
This would optimize file size, improve performance, and promote more efficient asset management.
