Idea: Enable “Save As” to Support Folder-Level Destination in Microsoft Fabric

Currently, when using the “Save As” feature in Microsoft Fabric, users can only save artifacts directly to the top-level workspace, not into specific folders within that workspace. This limitation disrupts organized workspace management, especially for teams maintaining clear folder structures for notebooks, pipelines, and lakehouses.

🔍 Problem:

  • The “Save As” dialog lacks folder navigation support.
  • Artifacts must be manually relocated to their intended folders after saving.
  • Users lose time and context when switching between interfaces just to move items post-save.

Suggested Improvement:

  • Enhance the “Save As” experience to include folder-level selection, allowing users to choose their desired folder destination at the point of saving.
  • Provide a simple folder picker UI aligned with OneLake structure to streamline this process.

🚀 Benefits:

  • Saves time and reduces friction in daily workflow.
  • Encourages better organization and collaboration within workspaces.
  • Aligns with OneLake’s structured design philosophy.
