Currently, users with Member and Contributor roles in Microsoft Fabric workspaces are allowed to freely upload files such as Excel and CSV. While this flexibility may be useful in agile environments, it poses a significant risk to data governance, especially in enterprise or regulated settings.
Problem:
- There is no way to restrict file uploads by file type (e.g., block only CSV or Excel).
- There is no way to differentiate upload permissions based on user roles.
- There is no approval or validation mechanism for manually uploaded data.
- This can lead to:

Request:
Introduce features that allow administrators to:
- Block or restrict file uploads by file type (e.g., Excel, CSV, JSON).

- Enable an approval workflow for manually uploaded files.
- Monitor and receive alerts for unauthorized uploads.
Expected Benefits:
- Stronger control over data quality and provenance.
