Get data from SharePoint.

Why you can import a datasheet from OneDrive and not from a SharePoint site?

  • You actually can. But, it is a little tricky. I've done this: 1. Open File Explorer in Classic SharePoint (Using Internet Explorer open SharePoint, Navigate to desired folder, navigate thru: Return to classic SharePoint>Library tab> Connect & Export>Open with Explorer) 2. May have to let File Explorer error out, then reopen the File Explorer again (MS hasn't figured out what causes this yet) 3. Get shortcut from desired file. 4. Replace all spaces in address with "%20", except for the file name itself. (Example: "https://ABC.sharepoint.com/sites/ABC/SAP/Report Developers/Data/Data Dump/All Data Dump.xlsx" to "https://ABC.sharepoint.com/sites/ABC/SAP/Report%20Developers/Data/Data%20Dump/All Data Dump.xlsx" Hope this works for you. I've been using this procedure for over a year and it has worked like a champ.

Thanks DPD. Any tips for getting data from a SharePoint folder? I tried using the same procedure as you suggested but receive an error. Thank you, Morvaryt
  • I'm also confused by this. PowerBI reports OData version 3&4 error when I try to import excel file from sharepoint link
