Gateway Update Notification and Auto update for Enterprise Gateway

We should be notified when there is a new version of both gateways. In addition, the Enterprise gateway should be updated automatically (admins should be able to turn this on/off).

Just a year would be nice not actual QTR, Month, just how far back is this.

The need for automatic updates for Enterprise Gateways has become even more pressing now Fabric components are included. Manually updating gateway servers each month is not sustainable in an enterprise environment. Gateway Admins should be able to manage when and on which Gateways the automated updates can be applied. Thank you.

Please enable auto update for this software. A mechanism where it (optionally) gets updates automatically via Windows Update would be fine.

The status is "planned" - is it "planned" enough that there is an ETA for general availability?

For anyone that finds this idea and is waiting for this feature: If you subscribe to the Microsoft PowerBI Blog RSS Feed, using PowerAutomate you can get notified. https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/feed/ I was able to setup a condition that looks for two things in the title "data gateway" or "Feature Summary". The former is what you're after for an email when a new Data Gateway version is released. Sometimes Microsoft publishes the blog early, so really this is just nice a reminder that should be available soon. The latter is because we want to be notified when a new PBI version is released and read the notes.

Given that its taken 9 years for this idea, that everyone seems to agree is a good idea and VERY necessary, to get to the planned stage. Can we get any sort of estimate on when this will happen? Should we assume it wont happen before 2034 as everything has to have co pilot added to it first
