Find out what causes a sudden spike

There's no evidence of what causes a spike, rather the metrics app only shows the accumulated CUs whhc is not telling of any activity that caused a spike. (my spike happened in my background operations and shot my CUs from 100% to 100,000%) causing a capacity overload.
