Export data to Excel

It would be nice to have the option to export a table to an excel file, right now is only on CSV format but someone working on a different ecosystem and does not have Power Bi would need to rework the data and that does not make any point to have PowerBi

The minimal feature in PBI online is inadequate. Structure and formatting are lost even when going directly to Excel. Qlik and other tools give a true representation of what's on the screen for all types of charts and graphs. We're trying to replace Qlik with PowerBI for all of our clients and this is the only real problem. Please fix this - it's a huge issue for accountants and others who insist on an Excel version "they control, so they trust won't change" and that they can easily annotate using Excel.

Sorry and following my comment below, all you would need to do - at a minimum - is allow the user to copy the SEE DATA view. You know, move their cursor over the SEE DATA table and press copy and then paste! But alas. HELP!!!

Very much agree with the sentiment that this is not currently supported in the service. My users desperately want to be able to format a matrix in the web, then export what they see on the screen into an excel file. There is no way to do this in the service or the desktop.

Kim, I agree that the "basic framework" is there in the service to export to excel - however when your matrix exports in a long line of single values rather than the matrix that is visible to the users in the service - they don't recognize the data nor is it usable. I'm about to go backwards to create a pivot table off my cube just so that the users can have a table of data that they can print.

In today's climate, requiring voluminous data, it's totally unrealistic to have the Power BI Desktop limited to a paltry export size. Users should be able to export directly to an Excel spreadsheet, both in size and in format.

Please not only for power BI desktop, but also for Power BI embedded!

The issue isn't saving the export as as .xlsx file instead of .csv. The issue is exporting a table/matrix as it looks in Power BI. The export option in the Power BI service labeled "summarized data" doesn't do this. For example, the table/matrix: Month Total Amt Jan $100 Feb $200 Exports each record... such as: Month Amt Jan $50 Jan $25 Jan $25 Feb $50 Feb $100 Feb $10 Feb $40

Why not turn it around and allow Excel to read/Import from a PowerBI Desktop file (.pbix)?

Fully agree with Hugh. This is not fully supported today for Power BI Service... it should be a wysiwyg export for the matrix visual. This is the top request from our company user base.

Can we get an update on this review? Will a wysiwyg export of a matrix be available in the next 6 months or not? This is a critical feature for many business uses in our company and the main hurdle keeping us from using Power BI for more applications.
