Excel connector for Fabric SQL databases without Server/Database (workspace picker + SSO)
Hi SQL Community,
Today in Excel (Power Query), connecting to a Fabric SQL database/endpoint requires manually entering Server and (often) Database. Even when SSO (Entra ID) works, users still need to copy/paste connection strings.
Idea: Add a Fabric-native connector (or enhance the existing one) that lets users browse Fabric workspaces and select a SQL database / Warehouse / SQL endpoint directly (similar to “From Power BI”), with SSO and no manual Server/Database fields.
This would improve usability, reduce errors, and make self-service analytics easier for business users.
Is this on the roadmap? Any recommended best practice in the meantime?
