Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically

Imagine a world where report creators can automatically apply slicer and filter selections based on specific logic, revolutionizing data analysis and user experience. This innovative approach eliminates any need for complex workarounds, optimizes slicer functionality, and paves the way for more efficient and effective data reporting.

@Quebas_2Ok, Finance reporting... enough said.

@belvoir99, I get your point now. Not sure though 4500 votes were towards your point though. The description is way too brief. I didn't get the point right away, so my guess it 80% didn't get it right. Might be the real reason why Microsoft is still waiting for more votes. I replied because the whole thing looked like a click bait and I thought I would add some input. But since there are 43 pages of comments, my whole intervention is pointless.

No need to reply guys. But thanks for the precisions.

Hopefully someone will read this and make an enlightened decision to vote or not.

This is the most requested feature in Power BI. What is missing is that filters don't update automatically. Every month, I am shocked with the slew of features launched that do not include this? What is going on over there?

There were several identical ideas that Microsoft deleted - combined these would have more votes than other voting option. This is the should be the #1 priority for Microsoft's development teams with respect to this product.

The situation with this Issue is Stupid. And it looks that M$ did not want to created it intentionally. There was a previous Issue created in 2015 with more the 7000 votes, the 2nd biggest number of votes in that time (a half year ago) and with more precise description https://ideas.fabric.microsoft.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=39ba67cf-724e-4b6c-9906-51163749f759 (I have the previous link because I tracked it and I wanted it to be developed .. It is not working anymore) .. but suddenly M$ joined that one into this one with only 4500 votes that is more general and .. Yes, I agree .. here it is not clear what is the request really about.

And there are new and new requests here in Ideas, that want still the same Function. Still the same request from year 2015.

It is easy to sum up the easiest interpretation of the request.

ADD a function into Date slicer that shows the last date as a Default option.

(There is a time series and I want the report to dynamically show the last period as Default.)

Surely This request can be generalised into .. Slicer should have some user defined Default function like Max from any field or result of complex analysis coming from actual data. But it is really too complex.

Third year I've asked about this at the power platform conference, third year I've been told it's "in progress". I suspect that unless someone can find a game changing way to integrate smart slicers with copilot it will never happen.

Imagine if we had the ability to set slicers and filters based on the current user. Users open a report and it is filtered to their office, department, industry, ...

In Oracle Analytics Cloud/Server (Formerly OBI EE) they have something called an expression filter where you can simply create a formula to filter, something I am searching for and assume is intended with this, correct?
