Enable Power Query to Support Merging with Local Datasets in Online Semantic Models
Currently, Power Query does not support merging local datasets with Online Semantic Models (also referred to as datasets hosted in the Power BI service). This limitation makes it difficult for users to integrate on-premises or manually loaded data with centrally governed semantic models.
Enabling this feature would allow for:
- Greater flexibility in combining online and local data sources
- More comprehensive data modeling workflows
- Improved usability for hybrid data environments
We strongly recommend that Microsoft consider supporting this functionality to better accommodate real-world enterprise scenarios and enhance the overall capability of the Power BI platform.
