Enable Fabric Admin to turn off all preview features

Enable Fabric Admin to turn off all preview features to prevent users from using preview features in production.

You could allow all preview features to be used by specific security groups.

Hi @hscameron , thanks for submitting this idea.

Can you please elaborate on the requirement?

- What is the risk/challenge you see when users in your tenant are exposed to preview features?

- Are there any recent examples for preview features you would like to expose only to limited set of people?

Thanks

Currently, the ability to disable a preview feature is on a feature-by-feature basis. For example, there are "Users can create and use ADF Mount items (preview)", "User data functions (preview)", and "Create Datamarts (preview)" features. As a Fabric Admin, if I don't want everyone in my organization to use preview features, then I have to disable these features one-by-one. It would be more simple if there was a way to disable all preview features with an option to enable all preview features for a security group(s). There are currently 24 preview features. I don't want to have to disable these one-by-one. Also, it often happens that new preview features are made available to the entire organization. So if I don't want new preview features available to my entire organization, then I have to periodically scan for new preview features and disable them. The reason is that I may not want to allow users to use any preview features in production. I may not want users to use preview features because some preview features may be withdrawn from the roadmap or significantly modified before they become generally available. Preview features may not be as secure as generally available features or have performance or reliability issues. I'm sure there are several more reasons why an organization may not want to use preview features. I may have a limited number of users that I do want to be able to use preview features, for example, my architects who are responsible to evaluate new features and learn about them so we can be ready to use them when they become generally available. Perhaps another way to manage this would be to group all preview features together and have all preview features disabled by default. Then it would be easier to manage the preview features and there would be no "surprises" of a new preview feature that is enabled for everyone. This is a request from one of my clients. I don't remember which preview features he was concerned about. However, I can see a client wanting "Create Datamarts (preview)" to be disabled because the future of Datamarts is very uncertain. I can also see a client wanting "Workspace admins can turn on monitoring for their workspaces (preview)" disabled because the feature uses realtime capabilities which can be expensive. A client may want "Users can create and use ADF Mount items (preview)" disabled because they want their developers to migrate from Azure Data Factory to Fabric Data Factory and don't want to let developers just mount ADF items.
