Enable Direct Deletion of Objects from the Selection Pane (Including Multi-Select and Group Deletion

In Power BI Desktop, managing visuals and objects in complex reports becomes difficult when multiple layered items are involved. Currently, deleting a specific object that's buried under layers requires either:

  • Bringing it to the front,

  • Realigning surrounding objects, or

  • Navigating awkwardly on the canvas to select it manually.

This disrupts workflow and can lead to layout issues.

Suggested Enhancements:

  1. Enable Direct Deletion from Selection Pane:

    • Right-click an object in the Selection Pane → "Delete".

    • No need to bring it to the front or locate it visually on the canvas.

  2. Allow Multi-Select Deletion:

    • Use Ctrl/Shift to select multiple items in the Selection Pane and delete them at once.

  3. Enable Group Deletion:

    • If objects are grouped, allow the group to be deleted directly from the Selection Pane with a single action.

Potential UX Implementation:

  • Add right-click options: Delete, Rename, Hide, Group/Ungroup.
