Enable Copilot in Embedded Power BI Reports Without Sign-In Prompt.
customer has requested a seamless experience when accessing embedded Power BI reports. Specifically, they want to:
- Bypass the sign-in page when accessing reports embedded via iframe. (they have already signed in previous session in app.powerbi.com)
- Enable Copilot functionality within these embedded reports.
Customer Impact: This limitation affects user experience and adoption, especially in scenarios where reports are embedded in internal portals or customer-facing applications. The need to sign in disrupts the flow and reduces engagement with Copilot’s generative AI capabilities.
Request: We propose the Power BI Fabric team consider the following enhancements:
- Introduce a secure token-based authentication mechanism that allows Copilot to function without triggering a sign-in popup, especially in iframe scenarios.
- Enable Copilot in app owns data scenario to support broader use cases.
- Provide configuration options in the Power BI admin portal to control Copilot visibility and behavior in embedded. contexts.
Justification:
- Copilot offers significant productivity gains by generating report pages, summaries, and insights automatically.
- Customers are eager to leverage Copilot in embedded scenarios to streamline reporting and analytics workflows.
- A more flexible authentication model would unlock new use cases and improve user satisfaction.
