Directquery for datasets only needs read permissions on all datasets

The new preview feature DirectQuery for Power BI datasets is very useful https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/directquery-for-power-bi-datasets-and-azure-analysis-services-preview/ However, its a limitation that the user has to have build permissions on the dataset linked to by direct query. I want to use this feature, but don't want to give the report users build permissions. I would expect that read permissions would be sufficient.

We're making a "golden" dataset to centrally to share with our markets. The intention is for our market headquarters to be able to share it to different viewers in the market. We cannot do that without giving build permission on the main dataset to the viewers which is not acceptable.

Very much needed indeed!!

Also you have to set all build permissions by hand which is a tedious job

This is definitely a blocker for empowering self-service users in an enterprise
