I want to install Power BI for POC purpose. But due to security protocols, there are few things that need to clarified. 1. Does Power BI publish data on cloud? If yes, how can we restrict and only allow authenticated users to view the data? 2. What is Power BI gateway used for? Does it help in securing the data?

- You can download PowerBI desktop app (free) and use it locally. As long as you don't publish to web or you don't upload your data to PowerBI.com, everything stays on your machine. Note that some features (creating dashboards, QnA, etc) are not available on the desktop app. Gateway is a secure way of connecting to your on-premises data sources. Hope this helps. Fetiye
