You can download PowerBI desktop app (free) and use it locally. As long as you don't publish to web or you don't upload your data to PowerBI.com, everything stays on your machine. Note that some features (creating dashboards, QnA, etc) are not available on the desktop app. Gateway is a secure way of connecting to your on-premises data sources. Hope this helps. Fetiye
