Data Label Alias

It would be very beneficial to be able to create "aliases" for data labels, without having to change the actual data values. Aka a shortcode for long names. As we dont have the ability to move/edit the labels themselves. Eg: A pie chart with a long name gets cut off, and if there is the same prefix, then both the legend and the label are useless.

This would be very useful - better control of report presentation.

I agree, especially when you do a max or median turn the name into "Max of Sales" which is very ugly and long

It will be also useful if we can adjust the height of the column header

Also if we can use this for the address in the map function, because having the full address takes up precious real estate on the tool tip icon. Aka having the ability to alias 7525 166th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052 as Microsoft would be very useful

You can fake it, sort of, for field or calculated columns using the Hierarchy. Create a new hierarchy and move the field or calculated columns into the hierarchy. If you rename the field in the hierarchy it wont change the original field name. It doesn't work for calculated measures. Even though you cant drag a hierarchy into a value field for a chart you can drag the renamed field from the hierarchy and the legend will read those names. So far i haven't found a snag but i just started to do it today.

would be very usefull to have. also would be usefull so conditional formatting could be done on text which could then be in the alias version a number (now a workaround)

Yes, it will be very helpful ! I see this post started on 2016 till now still no change. Also the height of the column header, it is basic that can change it

Quick and easy way - I had a value of 0 or 1 and I wanted a value of No or Yes. Create a group, one value per group, and use that rather than the value field itself.
