Custom Tooltips on Hover

We added report page tooltips back in March to support this. You can learn more my blog post here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-march-2018-feature-summary/ It's currently in preview, but we have plans to add support for table and matrix, and shortly after make the feature generally available. At that point, I'll close this idea.

This is a brilliant idea. Wish someone had thought of it earlier. Our senior managers asked me how they could see notes specific to a chart on their mobile. It is critical because management needs to see underlying notes in case they misinterpret the figures.

Tableau has this and it's an incredibly useful capability. A great way to dynamically present more details on a specific user selected topic.

I have a customer who is asking for this.

id like to see this more as a Title (tooltip) with an ellipsis to expand to a larger textbook type explanation or a ? for a custom help text

Being able to add any text field as a component of a tooltip would be incredibly helpful!! 1+ Colin for the (...) ellipsis to expand a larger memo field

It would be nice to also show any text field in the tooltip as well.

Any update in whether this is being considered. As mentioned Tableau have it and it is extremely engaging and users love it.

In general, tooltips are underdeveloped yet they are a very important part of a UI. A matrix may have many rows and columns and the tool tip is...the same as the row text or column text with no option to attach a helpful explanation. It would be very helpful to us report and dashboard developers to be able to "amplify" a field or metric name etc. etc.

Yes, an essential update needed. It would make reports more understandable and impressive.
