Connecting via ODBC not sending valid SQL

We're connecting to a virtual database hosted by JBoss Data Virtualization. It provides an ODBC endpoint, and when attempting to Preview the data, I'm seeing errors thrown on the server side about the SQL being sent not being parsable by the JDV engine itself. Query logs captured the incoming query as "from TableA" instead of a syntactically correct "select * from TableA" query. Note that this ODBC endpoint works when connected to via SQL Server Linked Server.
