Ideally in Excel's Power Query should be all data sources like in latest Power BI release Power Platform category with Power BI Dataflow, Power BI Dataset and Common Data Services in it. And even better - drivers to connect from external applications (for example from Python/R scripts) to all Power Platform sources.
