It would be extremely helpful to be able to have a DirectQuery to my SQL Server stay live while still allowing me to import files (Excel in particular) so that I can fill in some blanks much easier even if the data is separated somewhere on the server or if I am trying to add another layer of data that isn't on the server. Right now we can only do with by changing to Import and lose the DirectQuery connection I want to keep.

- Making DirectQuery (on in-memory optimized tables/databases incl. SQL Server & SAP HANA) fully functional and mash-up ready deserves more attention and effort by Power BI and MS BI ecosystem in general. Having it done right, potential benefits would be enormous...
