Chart Link to Report with an Automatically Applied Filter

My idea is to apply a filter to occur when a chart link is clicked. So when a chart is clicked in the dashboard it then links to the report it has come from but it has a filter applied to what it shows. The person who clicked the link cannot change any filter options but rather it is a prescribed filter. Does this seem like a worthy idea?
