Cannot Favorite a report from within an App

There is no favorites option for a report when in an App. The star appears next to reports in the App workspace, and also in the recent tab, however users will often not have access to the App workspace so this is not sufficient.

The CEO of my company has to tap 4 times to get to his favorite report every day. Let's make that 1! We can do it!!

Definitely needed. Considering moving away from apps because of this and because bookmarks created in a report when opened from an app appear to be separate from bookmarks created in the same report when opened from the workspace. Very confusing to a user when they have access to the report from both the app and the workspace.

For all of you who wants to make your report favorite in a app.


It is possible using a bug, glitch or hidden feature in power bi.


This are the steps.


1. Open report within app

2. Change one or more filters and/or select one of your visuals

3. Go out of app with 'Go back' left bottom corner.

4. Go to 'My workspace', here the report you just left will be shown (if not hit refresh browser) and make sure top menu is set to all or content.

5. Now hoover over report name and hit favorite (star)

6. Look in your favorite folder and surpise you have a favorite report


And now the fun part, when opening the report it will open outside of the app.

We use apps as our preferred content delivery method at my organization to allow us to customize content to different groups based on their audience. Having the ability for users to favorite a report inside an app would allow them to use the same functionality that is available to users who navigate directly to a report outside of an app.


This would be extremely helpful for our users, who appreciated being able to favorite reports when that was our standard delivery method (prior to pivoting to apps). This is functionality that they have now lost since we've made the switch to apps.
