Bookmark "Toggle" - Retain Slicer Selection

If you have 2 visualizations that you are toggling through a Bookmark image, and have slicers on your page, if you change a slicer value and click on the image to toggle to a different viz, the slicers value will not be retained. For instance, if I select Canada in a slicer, click on the toggle, the slicer will change back to whatever was saved in the bookmark. It would be nice to have an option to "retain" the current selections. This would allow a user to make different selections in the slicer, and then when the click on the toggle button, it would retain those values instead of using the slicer value when the bookmark was saved.

Hi y'all! Our December update to Power BI Desktop is out, and it has added bookmarking flexibility that should let you retain your filter/slicer state while still toggling visuals. Learn about it in my blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-december-feature-summary/#bookmarkFlexibility

I agree with this. An example is if you have a 'button' that changes one of the visuals from a matrix to scatters (as per the video explaining the Oct update) it will force all filters on a page to change based on the bookmark. It is a little frustrating all my filters resetting if I have a button to toggle a visual. Maybe one approach could be each bookmark you could customise what type of thing the bookmark applies to .... for example Bookmark applies to Show/Hide, however not Filters. OR Bookmark only applies to Spotlight & Filters however not Show/Hide.

This is definitely a must-have for any kind of wide-spread deployment at my company. The Bookmark feature works well, but as a developer there is no way that I'd be able to predict all end-user exploration that may be useful/insightful. This is especially true when looking at a SKU level. Allowing users to set filters at a top level and then navigate to multiple differing views whether it be Pricing, Customer Purchasing Profiles, Product Performance, etc would be a massive help. It enables users to explore PowerBI on their own in a deeper fashion without us having to spend hours internally training on building visuals. Thanks!

This is my biggest problem with the new bookmarks. Ideally we should have more granular control of what is saved in the bookmark.

Very important in order to make visibility bookmarks really useful.

Agree 100%. The bookmark feature is a game changer for our organisation. This small change would make Qlik all but a distant memory for our users!

A nice implementation could be the same way we already control how visuals interact with one another. Would be nice to have the option for a bookmark to toggle on an individual visual basis.
